The newly appointed COO is Mike Taylor, who has a wealth of experience in the charity sector, running not-for-profit organisations. Mike, who moves into his new post on 18 June, will be responsible to the Trustees for delivering The Society’s strategic plan, associated organisational changes and day-to-day operations. He said: “I am delighted to be joining the RPS at this important time in its history. We will raise our profile and status and reach out to the wider public. This will fulfil our objectives and enhance our global reputation for promoting photography of the highest standards. The new building will be the catalyst for a major programme of workshops, lectures and exhibitions.’’

The Chief Executive, Dr Michael Pritchard FRPS, will move to a new position as Director of Education and Public Affairs. His role will be crucial in delivering a strengthened education offering to fulfil The Society’s obligations under the Royal Charter. Michael will remain the main point of contact for external organisations, partnerships and the media.

RPS President Robert Albright HonFRPS, speaking on behalf of the Board of Trustees, said: “We are the longest standing photographic organisation in the world and have achieved this position by consistently moving with the times. Our strengthened management team will enable us to fulfil our Charter objectives; these are to increase the public’s knowledge, understanding and appreciation of photography. On behalf of the Trustees I would like to welcome Mike to The Society and to congratulate Michael on his new role. A bright future beckons!
